SONYA WIRTANEN, B.A.

DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

Sonya joins the staff at Birches School with a bachelor’s degree in education from Fitchburg State University. After teaching preschool for many years, she took a job as the program coordinator for the Community Partnership for Children. That is where she discovered her love of networking, connection making, and building community. From there Sonya found The Village School in Royalston, MA where she was the administrative assistant, and eventually the first and second-grade co-teacher. She is an AmeriCorps National Alumni where she served with Habitat for Humanity as the family service and community outreach coordinator on the Big Island of Hawaii. Sonya is an adult and children’s certified yoga teacher and currently teaches at her local yoga studio.
