Next Schools

Birches’ unique program prepares our graduates to thrive in their next schools in high school and beyond. Birches graduates are confident in themselves as students and prepared to make positive changes in their next schools. They are both self-reliant and community-minded.  With support from the Admissions Director, Head of School, and their advisors, our eighth graders are guided through the process of exploring and applying to independent schools or preparing to transition to public schools. Our graduates have attended various independent and public schools with success, finding themselves more than ready for the challenges of high school. We are proud of the achievements of our graduates and the contributions they have made as leaders and scholars to so many area schools.

I am now at Exeter University and still regularly think about what I took from Birches, especially how I can learn from others and from nature. When I started high school I had a core sense of security in myself because of how supported I was at Birches. I still hold Birches very near to me and take the self-assurance the community gave me from my childhood.

The academics at Birches were amazing, and I felt much more challenged at Birches in some classes than in high school.

As a college professor, I am amazed at the thoughtful and creative questions I’ve received from Birches students; Birches students feel comfortable and confident being a part of their own learning journeys. They are not only ready for high school, but many would be successful in my introductory science classes at university right now.
