Why did you choose Birches? It’s experienced teachers. The combination of play-based and academic rigor.
My favorite children’s book is: Zoey and Sassafras
My kid can’t stop talking about: Birches Bioblast, the silly songs at All School Meetings, the class’s favorite spots in the woods.
I love Birches because: My kid is known here. Every adult forms meaningful connections with the children.

Family lives in: Sudbury
Grade(s) of Child(ren): 5th and 7th
Interests of Child(ren): Being outdoors, reading, dance, telling their father his cooking is superbly mediocre, pond skating in the freezing cold.
Why did you choose Birches? First, the teachers. From the start it was evident that Birches teachers take the time to truly connect with their students, and that building these relationships is woven into the school’s ethos. Our children thrive in a “relationship first” environment, and after a year, our choice feels more validated than ever. Second, we were drawn to Birches’ deep commitment to living in harmony with nature. The school fosters not only an appreciation for the outdoors but also a genuine curiosity about how to live sustainably.
Years at Birches: As two school administrators, my wife and I spent nearly a year carefully considering the decision to enroll at Birches. If you’d like to learn more about our thought process, I’d be happy to share.
Katelyn, Current Parent
Family lives in: Weston
Grade(s) of Child(ren): 1st and 4th
Interests of Child(ren): Music, athletics, exploring the outdoors.
Why did you choose Birches? We chose Birches because of its strong commitment to outdoor education, its emphasis on project-based learning, and the benefits of mixed-age classrooms. We were also drawn to the school’s close-knit community and the dedicated teaching teams that support each grade band.
Most importantly, we wanted a place where our children could grow as individuals while also developing a sense of belonging within a community— all the way through Middle School.
